OWNER/DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER
OF FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT DANCE COMPANY
Marissa began her dance career at the age of 3 years old and has always dreamed of owning her own studio someday. She grew up dancing and competing in the Chicagoland area. Marissa has trained in hip hop, jazz, contemporary, tap, lyrical, and ballet. She has assisted various choreographers in the Midwest to further her knowledge and training. She has competed at World Of Dance and has been in the competition dance world for 13 years. Marissa’s mission is to train incredible dancer’s while creating even better humans. Prior to opening FOM in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Marissa was the Co-Director and choreographer for The Dynasty and led them to numerous 1st place victories and special judges awards. She created a following for herself by hosting online classes and masterclasses in the months leading up to opening her own studio at the age of nearly 18 years old! Marissa has choreographed and guest taught for various High School Dance Team’s and was the captain of her Dance team her senior year of high school. Additionally, Marissa is a faculty member for Activate Your Artistry Dance Convention’s Tour 2020-2025. She travels with AYA to various cities to spread her passion and knowledge for dance with as many dancer’s as possible. Dance has always been Marissa’s safe place and one of her goals was to create a space where her students can confidently and safely express themselves. Marissa sleeps, eats, and breathes Freedom Of Movement Dance Company. She would do anything and everything for each of her dancer’s. To this date Marissa has led her company to 4 National titles in just 4 seasons of being established. Marissa has created a respectful family like atmosphere that every dancer and dance family deserves to be a part of.
CO - DIRECTOR /CHOREOGRAPHER
Kylee is the Co-Director of Freedom Of Movement Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of 3. She has trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and contemporary. She danced competitively for 8 years and has now been a part of the competition dance world for 13 years. She has competed at World Of Dance and has won numerous national championships. Kylee has assisted many choreographers throughout her dance journey. Kylee is very knowledgeable and experienced in the realm of health and fitness. She teaches all flexibility and strengthening classes at FOM. She is always coming up with creative ways to challenge the dancer’s and make them stronger physically and mentally. Kylee’s degree is in Business Administration and she also does social media marketing and content creation for local businesses. She is also an award winning choreographer for Freedom Of Movement Dance Company’s Competition team. She began working for FOM Season 1 and has been a part of this journey ever since. Kylee is excited to share her knowledge and inspire dancers to follow their dreams.
INSTRUCTOR
Rachel Day is from Geneva, IL. She spent her early training studying under Terry Fox, Elise Flagg, and Judith Chitwood. She recently graduated from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. While at NIU, she focused her training on ballet and various forms of modern dance. She performed lead roles in Carmen, Pas de Quatre, Carmina Burana. She is currently an apprentice with Chicago Repertory Ballet under the direction of Wade Schaaf. This is Rachel’s second year teaching and choreographing. She is looking forward to returning for another season at FOM.
CONDITIONING
Vince grew up in the Chicagoland area. He has 12 years of strength and conditioning experience as a student as well as an instructor. He has trained intensively for numerous sports to improve his agility, endurance, stability, and overall health. Vince's passion for fitness and nutrition has led him to the path of Chiropractic education. He attends Joliet Junior College and will transfer to National University Of Health Science's to complete his bachelors degree in Biomedical Science with an emphasis in Nutrition and receive his Doctor Of Chiropractic degree. Vince is excited to share his knowledge with Freedom Of Movement Dance Company and help prepare them for their upcoming dance season.
INSTRUCTOR
Kylie is trained in many styles, but finds her passion in contemporary and exploring different movement qualities. She grew up in the Chicagoland area competing and attending various conventions, participating in exclusive closing shows, and receiving multiple scholarships from choreographers such as Twitch, Sonya Tayeh, Travis Wall, and many other SYTYCD choreographers. Kylie has taught many styles over the years, among all ages and levels. She always strives to create a safe and positive environment, free of judgment. She pushes her students to come out of their comfort zone, and uses many different teaching approaches to do so. Kylie is thrilled to be back for her second season and eager to meet all her new students!
STUDIO ASSISANT / MENTOR
Chris grew up in the Chicagoland area. He was a member of Freedom Of Movement Dance Company Season 2 as well as PEHS Varsity Dance Team his Junior and Senior year of High School.Chris has experience in all styles of dance and is excited to assist and mentor his former teammates. He has won various awards and also received Elite Mr. NexStar Runner Up at Nationals Season 2. This was his first year ever competing a solo. Chris is beyond excited to help and share his knowledge with the dancers this season.
